1956 NAPCO ad:

I'm not sure a modern ad would claim "Uranium prospectors" as first (or even last) example of use of the vehicles of a make

1966:

1976 :

Am I wrong if I see the man sitting in the back as a "post-1968" effect, in the 1976 ad?

But I searched a lot: in nowadays picture showing a mixed couple in a car, it's still the man who is driving in 99 per cent of all cases. Did anyone talked about societal (non-)evolution?

The "Austin" 1800 is a Morris - different grille and badge.

... which is written with (non-readable here) small letters in the left top corner of the picture, and is why I gave this name to the picture
It is an extract of a (more or less) complete file about the BMC ADO17, but if I'm not mistaken, "Austin" is most known in France than Morris, or Wolseley, etc. This may be why the authors chose this title for the whole file?

Rather because of their lack of knowledge. Not all writers in classic car magazines are really educated hardcore-connaisseurs.

We just have this discussion in our K 70-Club, caused by a K 70-buyers guide in one of the rather unimportant classic car-magazines over here. A plenty of bullshit is written there - because the writer stayed alone with the car-owner, our former 1st club-chairman, who told him wrong things. Things he was always talking in the last 25 years, although everyone else know, that they aren't correct. The arcticle was written without any proofreading by me or two, three other guys with real K 70-knowledge (the maximum amount worldwide).

Anyways, not a real drama. The magazine is too unknown, anyone, who is seriously interested in that car, should better ask us directly - if not, his fault, but finally we got a bit publicity, just that is fine enough.

There are roundabout 6 or 8 classic car magazines in Germany, but only 3 are important or well-known.
The most known writers are always the same since 20, 30 years. Often they had changed their employer. I know nearly all of them.
There are also some upcoming youngster-writers, but only a single few. If we hardcore-classic-car-fetishists think, that they are worth it, we support them. If not, we ignore them. Sooner or later they will disappear.

Rather because of their lack of knowledge.

Not the case in this article (nor, as far as I know, in most articles of this magazine). Written on the first line, second sentence:
"The BMC ADO17, most known as Austin 1800..."
Once again, French article in a French magazine, so French specific market. Remember the Renault 4 discussion

Other BMC makes were not usual for that car, in France. The Austin model itself is not that common, in fact. So for me, this is (more or less) the same as having (in France, once again  ) a title like "Ford Taunus (1970 - 1982)", with the "Cortina" name and "TC" complement mentioned (several times) later in the article. In any case, it sounds logical to me in a magazine intended for both the general public and the specialists.

Moreover, and if I'm not mistaken, the author of the article about the ADO17 is the one who often shows amazing pictures about almost undocumented versions of British cars in his articles, and as a Belgian, gives also the French and Belgian specs of the cars when possible. I think we can say he knows what he's talking about...

"The BMC ADO17, most known as Austin 1800..."[/i]

Austin was launched Oct 64, Morris March 66, Wolseley 18/85 March 67 so Austin had 18/30 months head start over other versions, even where export markets may have been Morris territory. Most ADO17 were made at Austin Longbridge - including later Morris; Cowley only did some early Morris. So ADO17 range is very much an Austin product whatever badges might be fixed.

I didn't know where to post this, but this title fits well: here is a collection of 200+ picture of Brussels in the early 80s:

lots of nice cars from all the countries (Belgium was nice for that back then, it was much less homogeneous than France/Germany/UK/US/...)

Grat pics! Shot by a tram-freak, as it seems.

One precious specially mentioned for dsl and Weasel1984: https://www.flickr.com/photos/52086447@N00/11607609454/in/set-72157638982316363 :sol:

About classic trams: ca.15 years ago I've watched three VHS-tapes about the last journey of the tram in Hamburg (cancelled and wrecked in 1978), filmed by a private tram-freak with Super 8. Later it was converted to VHS and sold by a tram-fanclub.
As it seems, they aren't uploaded at YT, so I only could find:

Oh, digging around at YT for interesting old traffic videos would be an appropriate job for the actual ugly winter-days.

It seems to be logical to remove the liftgate on the 1307, making some extra space and a (not that easy) passage to the car interior. As sedan/saloon only, there is then less available volume with a Zodiac

On the subject of ads, I copied a couple of those pictures over to another forum and somebody pointed out in this one the Mini Metro ad is in Flemish whilst the Canada Dry advert next to it is in French.

The magic of multilingual cities / country.

Even the sex theater ads are perfectly bilingual:

although it sounds more direct in Dutch. They could have said "erotische film" too.

What American would this be?
