And if you think that cost does not matter, go out and buy that new S-class. What I do not understand, is why pay twice as much for the Benz when you can get the same quality of a Cadillac for 1/4 the price.
The fact is Mercs are just better than the Cadillacs of recent years, they are more sporty, more technologically advanced and more sophisticated. The Cadillac DTS just can't really compete with the Mercedes S-Class. Perhaps Mercedes are a bit overpriced but they are still better than most other cheaper cars. Cadillacs aren't bad cars but they are still big, wallowing barges padded out with leather interiors, a Mercedes is just a different animal, they are still luxurious but are much sleeker, quicker and more sophisticated, a big Cadillac could never keep up with it on a racetrack, and I don't want to hear about the CTS-V and STS-V, I'm talking about the traditional big Cadillac like the Deville, or the DTS as it is called now, besides I seriously doubt the new V-series sporty Caddys could match the AMG Mercs.
I thought even most Americans consider luxury European imports to be more prestigous than all the Lincolns and Cadillacs.

But in my opinion, American cars rule everything. I think this because I do not give a shit about reliability, handling, economy and quality.
So you mean that - except for reliability, handling, economy and quality - the US cars are the best?

If you don't care about those things what do you care about? A car that completely lacked quality and handling would not mean much to me.

Yea, but you are European (where those things matter). I care about power (its gotta be strong), size (gotta be big) and speed.

I am American, and I think: Lincoln > Mercedes-Benz.
And I would but the DeVille DTS, XLR-V and the Ecalade are far, far better then anything Benz offers.

I think with you Explorer, the case is you love the classic big American muscle car, so you are loyal to the descendants of those cars. But the classic American muscle car doesn't exist in the same form anymore, American cars have been shrunken down and they've lost the individuality of the classic US cars, and now they are generally outclassed in most areas by their European counterparts. And as for 4x4s I think there's only a handful of cars that are true offroad vehicles, and the rest are just big wastes of space.

Yea, I agree (sort of).
And thats one of the reasons I like the Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Town Car so much is because they are basically the only large American car that is true to its predecessors, even if not quite as big it is still big.

Yea, but that is exactly why it is awsome. It is cooler then every other luxury car (the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, Lincoln LS, Bentley Continental GTC and Chrysler Crossfire included) in production today.
And that 'nothing more' part only applies to the 2006 (and down) models. The 2007 has its own, big, fast engine and it is more a separate car and not a rebadge.
Fastest SUV in its class I might add.

Faster than the Brabus & AMG SUVs? (and if you say that Brabus does not count, you cannot say the same for AMG, as it is now officially part of Mercedes-Benz's car range )
And what is the use of fast cars, since it is limited to 80 mph? (in the best case)

SUVs are shit. If you really want to go offroading, get a Land Rover Defender it'll take you further offroad than any comfortable SUV. If you want a family car, get an estate car (station wagon). And if you want a fast car, an SUV is far from ideal.

Oh please, Benz and Brabus/AMG have never made an SUV half the size of a basic Escalade. You could stick the biggest European SUV (which is hardly big, period) in the cargo area of an Escalade and still have room left over. Midget SUVs is what they are. A joke when Europeans say they are big.

lol.
-Land Rovers are expensive, and they are far from 'cool'.
-Station wagons are cramped (excludes 70's American wagons).
-What if you want to be able to offroad, haul a lot of people and cargo and still be able to tow trailers? What then? And if you want shit, get a friggin' Land Rover Freelander.

Explorer, you're the kind of person who is more impressed by a gin palace motorcruiser than a real yacht. And you'd probably rather eat a big pizza than go to a proper restaurant.

In the event that I'd need a car to do all those things, and frankly the vast majority of SUV owners don't, I'd want a Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery, or Toyota Land Cruiser. Or a Land Rover Defender 110 (though those things are really uncomfortable so it wouldn't be fair on my passengers). Or maybe one of those big Japanese pickup trucks like the Mitsubishi L200. If I lived in America, I guess then I'd have to get a Chevy Suburban or whatever if I REALLY needed to do all those things (are those long wheelbase SUVs like the Suburban actually that good offroad?). But I can't think of why I'd need an Escalade unless I got a job as Tony Soprano's decoy.

You say that like its a bad thing. Give me a damn burger w/ extra fries, or a pizza w/ extra cheese, and thats the best I could want. Now my parents are into all that fancy crap (going to high-class restaurants and getting a most expensive thing on the menu), but not me. Its for old and/or rich people who have nothing better to do, and think they are too good to eat at McDonalds or Arby's. Don't work for me, as my favorite eateries are fast-food joints and diners. I suppose you prefer a 'proper restaurant' to a pizza? Geeze.. Some people have no taste.
As for the car comment: Thats what all Europeans seem to think. SUV's suck and Land Rovers are the exception. Well thats just your hang up. As I think that SUVs are the only good cars, aside from the Ford Panther vehicles, the modern-day pony cars and trucks, of today. I live by the statement 'The Bigger the Better'. And I add that if a car has poor fuel economy, its better then a car that has good fuel economy. And I don't care if a V6 can get the same horse power as a V8, its the fact that its a gas-guzzling, big V8 that makes it better. Those two factors make the Ford Crown Victoria and its twins the best sedans out there.
EDIT: I also just was thinking.. European luxury cars can't be that great. If someone here mistook a Rolls-Royce for a Dodge St. Regis, and someone on another forum thought the interior of my Tempo was that of a Volkswagen Phaeton, thats not really saying anything good for Rolls-Royce and VW.

I can only surmised you were dropped on your head several times as a baby, or you have some significant learning disorder, because your arguments make only slightly more sense than the success of Nickelback as musicians.
Why is it better for a car to have bad fuel economy? I mean, I'm willing to overlook it if the car is good otherwise, but it's not a good factor. A Ferrari isn't better than a Corvette because it uses more gas.
And why do you constantly remind us of how great the Tempo is, but refuse to accept that anything European is good, when the Tempo (and just about every other Ford in the '80's) was so heavily influenced by *gasp!* European cars?
Oh, and the Mercedes-Benz GL450 is slightly faster than the Escalade, while making you look like slightly less of a self-centred prick for driving one (and yes, they're competitors).
And McDonald's burgers suck. I'm all for junk cuisine, but that doesn't mean having a complete lack of standards.

Whoever thinks the interior of a Ford Tempo is comparable to a Volkswagen Phaeton or mistakes a Dodge St. Regis for a Roll-Royce is a complete idiot who should not procreate.
BTW, the Panthers do not get as shitty gas mileage as your precious SUVs. They get about the same gas mileage as a Taurus. We had a Durango as a loaner from the dealership while our van was in for repairs. I hated it. It used up half a tank of gas doing 120 miles (at 65 MPH) on the highway (the Windstar would do the same 120 miles in less than a 1/4 tank).

Actually about the food thing I guess it depends who's paying
Alright, I guess most of us love burgers and pizzas, but reading Fast Food Nation and watching Super-Size Me (apparentely fast food causes liver damage!) had kind of put me off going to places like McDonalds, and the burgers they serve there are really pretty shit, so they must be putting something in them that keeps people eating them. Oh well, when I was a little kid like you I thought McDonalds was the best thing as well.
