As I'm not an expert at all but as I want to know a bit more about differentiating big size Chevy's from end 50's to begin 70's, I open this topic on the forum...

Major question is: As I like them, I would like to know rougly what are the major differences between Bel Airs, Biscaynes, Impalas and other possible sister models (incl. wagons )?
Engine? Trim? Equipment?

Could somebody help? Is there a good doc somewhere? Thanks.

Normally it is one thread per make, so one with "Chevrolet" title and containing links & infos, that all.
For discussions it is better to post on "cars & movies" section

"Big size Chevy's" is quite obvious as title isn't it? Anyway, I'll try to come to the info via another way

But this section was at first supposed to be a list of useful links & info. So to stay easy to use, I was thinking to have only one topic for each make (to have a reduced number of topics) with in each topic mostly all useful info in first post (links, etc.) to access to these quickly.

If you take Chevys for example, we not have
- Big size Chevy's (End 50's - Begin 70's)
- Chevrolet Truck I.D. #'s of the 1940's & 1950's
:ohwell:

During the '60s and maybe early '70s Biscaynes and Bel Airs had two taillight lenses per side. Impalas had three per side. I believe this includes the wagons too.

BTW, they're called "full-sizes."

The Chevrolet Bel Air had two taillights per side well into the last years it was made, in both the USA(1975) and Canada(1982).

BTW, I'm the one who posted the message about Chevrolet Truck I.D. #'s of the 1940's & 1950's. If you'd like to merge the two messages, I'll be happy to post any other tidbits on Chevrolet cars and trucks in the thread.

This is a good link: http://www.tocmp.com/

Many completely scanned brochures and other documents for comparing. Not just Chevrolets.

There is excellent source of full size Chevrolet from George H. Dammann's 75 years of Chevrolet. Too bad, it ends at 1986 model year.

These Chevrolet full size cars are my favorites :sol:

Interesting tip I found at a link on 1958-65 Chevys; A lot of the Chevrolet Biscaynes we've veen idenitfying might've actually been Biscayne Fleetmasters:

And I thought that name died in the late-1940's with the Fleetline.

These Chevrolet Biscayne Fleetmaster were sold for fleet vehicles from 1960/61 model years only. We have a couple on the IMCDb site: http://imcdb.org/vehicle_273619-Chevrolet-Biscayne-1961.html and http://imcdb.org/vehicle_12063-Chevrolet-Biscayne-1419-1960.html
