This morning I saw an original US-police-car (with the German registration DO-PO 36, plates in US-size).
It was a Chevrolet Caprice from the 90ies. The colour was like like "Bluesmobile" (black, white roof and white doors), but I couldn't identify the sticker on the trunk lid, so I don't know, where it was originally from. On the side were stickers "police" or "9-11", but no other remarks from the origin area or town.

Went to a classic car show a couple of weeks ago. Just now got the chance to upload pictures:

1972 Dodge Charger (ugly but still pretty neat)

I like the size comparison here.

Interestingly enough this old beauty, a 1973 Chrysler Newport, was not actually in the show, but parked outside. I guess it wasn't in good enough condition, but I still like it

Also not in the show, but definitely my favorite find of the day, a 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Ragtop :bave:

Also a nice looking '89 Camry at a used car lot on the way home.
Leoz, if you send me the $1900 (800 pounds) to buy it, maybe I could arrange to have it shipped to you over in Britain. But of course, you would have to get used to the left-hand drive
(and yes, that is our '88 Camry in the background)

I remember long ago when this topic was first started with the Lincoln Navigator haha. I like the pictures taxiguy, but how can think the 72 Charger is ugly?? It's the car from the Smashing Pumpkins video 1979!

Are you kidding? How can you say it's not ugly. Here's some more pictures that make it look even worse

Tailliaght/bumper combination = :puke:

This viny roof/quarter window combination is kinda neat, but you have to admit it's still pretty ugly!

Not my muscle car of choice but I have nothing against the design. When I think ugly the Pontiac Aztec comes to mind...

Did you say "muscle car"?

Just because it is labeled a "Charger" does not mean it is a Charger

Muscle cars did continue past 1969. How does it not look rugged and or badass? A Ford Crown Vic, now there's something that looks very ordinary. Although I would much rather see Crown Vics as Police cars instead of the new Charger which I dislike more than I can explain.

Well, what I was referencing was the fact that by this year, the "Charger" was no longer even marketed as a muscle car, let alone styled like one. I mean, the car has a vinly roof, a hood ornament, and a column shifter for god sakes. You can't get any less sporty than that!
Probably the only reason you think it looks "badass" at all is becuase it is colored in black. An identical car colored in tan or brown for instance would not look sporty or badass at all whatsoever.

And also, how can you say a Crown Vic is ordinary? :heink: It is a very special car! And yes of course they make better police cars than the Charger :yuck:

First of all a '74 Charger is in the last minute of Payback which is one of my favorite movies (actions movies that is). You're right that it could be a lot more sporty and I didn't know that bit about them not marketing it as one. I guess the vinyl roof adds class like the '72 Chevelle does. Second this year of Charger in the 1979 video is not black (it's more of a green color) and looks just as good. The Challenger in Vanishing Point and Death Proof is white and it looks REALLY badass (although that's only because the car is already insane looking). I guess I didn't explain myself about the Vics very well, I meant that they're everywhere. The Jeep Wrangler might be fun to drive and good off-road but they're also everywhere. At least this Charger is rare, I find it hard to like cars that I see over ten times a day. I simply have to drive by the police station in my town (about a mile from my house) and they're 15 parked in a row. This is kind of off topic but recently they painted the Crown Vics black and white instead of just being white. I thought that was kind of cool.

Well I think that that '72 is quite nice. But I prefer the '73 Charger. (Not that it looks much different, if at all.)

My dad's folks had a '72 Dodge Polara Suburban. He told me that with the 383 that car could do 80 with the pedal halfway down and from that point still leave a rubber trail.

Also, there's a 1970 Chrysler 300 in my town but I see it so often now that I don't even think twice about it. It's for sale too if anyone's interested.

And OH MY GOD GMANN. I wanna live where you live. Holy crap. :bave:

Lincoln Town Car (1980's)
95 Ford Mustang

These seem like pretty common cars. Are they rare where you live?

Well, I would think the Town Car would have been sold there for limousine conversions and luxury taxis etc...
And isn't the Mustang sold almost everywhere since it is so popular?

The town car is rare, as I have never seen one on the road before not as a limo, the Mustang, well it was parked next to it.

Luxury taxis use rather large German cars I think. When you see important/politic people, they use Audi, BMW, etc. rather than US cars.

Limousine conversion is a typical US thing: these are too big for here  Such stretched cars are really less common here.
For a wedding for example I guess that in US it is common to hire such limousine, but here typical wedding car is often an old restored car, Citroën "Traction Avant" being one of the most common.

And isn't the Mustang sold almost everywhere since it is so popular?

It is popular, but here it is rather because it is seen as an exotic US car, not popular in the way "everyone can have one"

Great, another modded-up Caprice. How could people do such things to such nice cars? :icon_smile_angry:

How do you know it wasn't a genuine Impala SS? Anyway, on a recent vacation, I saw somebody driving down the road with a souped-up 1930's coupe of some kind and a matching trailer smaller than a teardrop trailer. I also saw a BMW Motorcycle that had the rear end of a BMW car of some kind. I wish I had some pictures of them.

Went to a classic car show a couple of weeks ago. Just now got the chance to upload pictures:

With those taillights, it's a 1968. Anyway, I'm glad you explained downsizing to CCF. It fits in so well to what I was talking about here:
