Model Cars......who else collects them?
Published 26/08/2021 @ 19:15:36, By 48bux
Yes, in this case it was used by the official Peugeot team in the Group B era: https://www.diecastlegends.com/Images/Product/Default/xlarge/SPK2680_1.jpg

It's the first model of a very interesting kiosk collection of rally assistance vehicles already seen in France and now starting here too  but I don't think I can buy others..

I think it's genuine, but a couple of comments. Looks like a partwork model, with a works 205 T16 rear bodyshell on the roof, which was later than 81 - 1984-86 seasons with various liveries. Most of these partworks come from the IXO collection of brands (eg Altaya is common) and IXO have just announced a revival of their works Talbot Sunbeams from the 1981 season, including an associated Talbot team van (IXO Citroen C35 - 1981 Talbot Sport Rally Assistance 1:43, product code RAC369) - it's not out yet, but pre-release pic of real thing with a glimpse of a Sunbeam here. IXO often try to spin multiple versions from one base casting, particularly if there's a partworks commission kicking it all off, so there could even be further versions in the future.

Talking of partworks, I've just seen advance announcement for what I think is the first ever model in 1:43 (or any other scale??) of an Austin Montego - looks like an Italian partwork with LHD and a dull green. But if it's another from one of the IXO brands, there may be a proper release later with upgraded detail/livery.

Yes, indeed on the base it says 1983-86, but the 205 T16 debuted in 1984  maybe in the collection there will be the 1981 Talbot version too

I have no idea from what collection that Montego is, never seen it..maybe some future classic car collection?

It's from a greek partwork series, and it's been out for a while.

Here's the Montego : https://turnaroundbooks.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/%CE%A4.27-AUSTIN-MONTEGO-1986.jpg

And here's an N14 Nissan Sunny, which I'm even more excited about : https://turnaroundbooks.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/%CE%A4.39-NISSAN-SUNNY-1991.jpg

Thanks, at first i thought it was some TV truck then i noticed the wheels on top of it and Peugeot Sport ( and i just realized there was a 205 Rallye hood on it too , BTW thanks for the pic , now i know what my 205 ( hot wheels ) would look like if i ever remove that part.. )

That Greek collection is very, very interesting..the 127 Amico too :wam:

For Baube, yes the 205 Turbo 16 has something to hide under the hood  https://www.motoristorici.it/wp-content/gallery/peugeot-205-turbo-16/205-Turbo-16-11.jpg
Speaking of 205 T16, I don't have the Hot Wheels but I have the Bburago 1/24, identical to this one

which actually wanted to represent the Paris Dakar version with that livery, but without its long wheelbase as they used the Group B casting (Dakar version: https://www.flickr.com/photos/30949611@N03/42125310474 )

Some unexpected delights in that Greek assortment, but some duds as well. Have now seen more pics of the Montego, and it looks brighter and more interesting than I'd realised. There's a few revived castings where they've blown the cobwebs off ancient things and bodged them to look new - the Mini Cooper S isn't very convincing, and the Morris 1100 is rubbish - I used to have an earlier red version which was very badly proportioned so it looks a mess and has the fuel filler on the wrong side, although the grille is neatly done. The 1980 Taunus 1.6 GL is interesting because it's the only way to get a 1:43 Cortina Mk5 diecast, and IXO have issued several versions over the years, all LHD and Taunus badged (apart from a LHD Israeli police car with a Cortina badge), usually with clumsy trim detail as cheapo budget issues. This red one doesn't look as crudely done as some of the others, but bizarrely, despite Taunus rear badge and number plates has a RHD interior.

found a 2019 Subaru Forester from Matchbox

( what makes it funnier is the next day that i bought it i went to pick up a friend and i saw a real one in the same color ... )

found my 2nd ever AMC car ( my first is a 1973 Ambassador from Greenlight that i bought earlier this year ) , a Rebel Machine ( not sure if the name has some sense .. )

Isn't those ones supposed to be only black ? ... i know i wish it was...

not really fan of race cars or that big handle that looks like a spoiler but i liked the idea of an aggresive-looking Nissan Leaf

Honda e , 1934 Chevy , Mario Kart and Mickey's boat are among the recent ones..

It's quite slow here regarding Hot Wheels and Matchbox. But then there are a few partwork models here (Belgium) and there (France), plus leftovers from Argentina and Brazil hitting the aisles of a french discount shop chain, a while ago. So it's not bad.

There was a brief maker called "Fresh Cherries" that made several AMC models in 1:64. I know I have the Pacer, but they also sold Gremlin, Hornet Hatchbacks and Matador coupes.

I must say that i was happy that for once regular cars were represented . Its a little bit like car shows ( if i ever get back to one.. ) : i'm almost having more fun seeing normal cars ( in one of the last shows i went someone was there with a 1990 base 4-doors Lumina ) than having to watch the 37th Z28 on display at the event..

( not that i hate them, i do like them a lot but it gets kind of repetitive... )

Fresh Cherries was a range of model cars made by Motor Max, and exclusively sold at WalMart. I got a few during my 2007 trip to the USA. Some in 1/64, some in 1/87, including a light green metallic Tempo, and a 1/24 Gremlin X.

I remember it wasn't the only "here today, forgotten tomorrow" model car range I saw then. There was Reel Rides, 1 Badd Ride, Truckin', some Chip Foose cars too.

some Motor Max products are still available at Walmart here but Fresh Cherries just went in & out so quickly... i remember watching them the 1st time, buying the Tempo at the 2nd , 3rd time nothing really interested me ( and i already got a Tempo, i wasn't gonna buy every color.. ) , 4th time, gone and never came back ... :ohwell:

Hi, I’m going to look in my boxes but I think I have "Fresh Cherries" on the HO scale (I’m sure I did) but I don’t know if they are already gone or not.

I like the Saab. It's good that Ixo and Altaya are filling some holes in the 1970s rally cars category. I hope they'll think about the Nissan Violet and its derivatives soon.
