Super Duty

I’ve meant to bring this up for some time but so far have failed to do so. Would it not be wise to incorporate the Ford "Super Duty" name with the 1999 model-Onward F-250 / F-350 / Onward trucks (???)
It is not a trim level and Ford claims it as part of the trucks proper name ...

Were all F-250s "Super Duty"'s? What does it actually mean?

All F-250s / F-350s and F-450s are Super Duty as of the 1999 model year. Before that the Super Duty name plate appeared on Ford’s F-450 line as “F-Super Duty” – this is no longer used. All Ford trucks are known as "F-250 Super Duty" / "F-350 Super Duty" or "F-450 Super Duty" depending on their mechanical setup. The new 2008 models (which I think are ugly) have SUPER DUTY stamped on the top of the grille)
As for the Super Duty name itself? It signifies that the truck is not light-duty but rather heavy-duty in nature. The name was given to the vehicle by Ford to announce that the truck (which was All-New machine for the 1999 model year) was far more capable than the ones it replaced.

Well Neptune, if you know for sure the correct nomenclature for Ford pickups, and the trucks on this site aren't correctly labelled, as an Admin you can fix this (I'd put Super-Duty in the Extra info section for each vehicle)
The new Ford pickups (like the one in the second to last thumbnail) do look too Tonka Toy-ish, pickup trucks don't appeal to me anyway, but these just look silly!

I would also put it as extra info, but if Ford used that all the time with the F-number names it may be part of the name... so I do not know.

It is used on every F-250 / F-350 since the 1999 model year, no matter what trim level, cab setup, or engine is used.

Was it only on the truck itself or on all commercial documents aswell?

So what's the final verdict then? I'd support either one.

Indeed it seems that Super Duty is part of the name... in the first of the two images they even just name it "Super Duty" without F-number

So shall I start to rename them then? I’m not going to change anything without a green light first.

I would agree. I just visited the Ford site and Super Duty does seem to be part of the name as a whole, not just a "secondary" name. If you want, I can help you to rename them. I've been meaning to look at the Ford trucks to make sure they're correctly identified, since I know a thing or two about them
One thing: So if we go ahead with this, then in the field name would go, for example: F-Series Super Duty
right?

Hell yeah, you can help, I always appreciate help ...

Correct ...
We will have to go through all F-Series trucks from 1999-to-Present model years. Including F-250 / F-350 / F-450 and F-550 (I’m not sure how many we have of each though. I think there is very few of the latter two)

Right, those are the lists we'll have to go through. Two questions, though:
1. When did the F-650's and F-750's first come with the chrome grill?
2. Are those two considered Super Duty trucks also, or what exactly?

You can rename them then, but if there are large numbers of similar models to rename I can maybe do it by SQL directly in the server. Though that the "superduty" mention from the extra info would have to be cleared at the same time... Well, let me know if I have to change some (i.e. large series with year mentioned and all model/extrainfo fields identical)

Very well then, I go ahead and start with the F-250s (while I’m changinfg the names I’ll add missing year models (if there are any) and any other missing secondary info i.e. trim level, cab configurations)

Neptune, I'm working on the F-350's. Ambulances count too, right?
